GenCorporate in collaboration with the ASEAN - UK Business Forum (AUBF) and Limkokwing University hosted the renowned ASEAN Briefing titled 'The Empowerment of The ASEAN Youth' on the 27th January 2016 at Limkokwing London. Students of various ASEAN nationalities from all over the United Kingdom gathered for the prestigious event. The event aims to form and strengthen relationships between ASEAN youths in moving towards becoming a stronger region. Discussions about various aspects of ASEAN were brought to the table, from trade and culture to regional stability.

 

The event featured the President of AUBF, Datuk S.K. Lingam as the main speaker, as well as the Chairman of the ASEAN Ambassadors London committee. His Excellency Dato Ahmad Rasidi Hazizi, the High Commissioner of Malaysia, Professor Cedric Bell, the International Vice Chancellor of Limkokwing University and representatives from the High Commissions of respective ASEAN countries graced the event. Student representatives from various organisations were present at the event and were keen to get an insight on the future of ASEAN.

 

Although various issues were discussed on the day, the main message we took away from Datuk SK Lingam's speech was the importance of strengthening unity between ASEAN nations in order to form strong and sustainable growth in the region. He encouraged the youth to play an important role in building relationships and networks across the region, which has the potential to become strong business and political connections for the future.
