Dato' Rohana Rozhan

CEO of Astro Malaysia

1/5

GenCorporate had the privilege of hosting Dato' Rohana Rozhan, the current Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad as well as Astro's Senior Management team including Liew See Lin, the Chief Commercial Officer, Datuk David Yap, the Vice President Community Affairs and Iskandar Samad, the CEO and Head of Strategy of RAKU (Radio Aku) for a high tea session filled with delectable treats, inspiring company and invaluable insight.

Students had the opportunity mingle over tea with our guests. The casual session allowed participants to ask questions in an informal setting and get to know these corporate figures personally. Besides that, the participants also got the chance to learn about the company and what it's like to work in a prominent broadcasting company in Malaysia.

Right after the tea session, the day proceeded with a Speaker Series featuring Dato’ Rohana. Dato Rohana spoke about various topics ranging from her childhood to her thoughts on gender equality. She believes that all women are capable of becoming corporate leaders and that women should not feel the need to conform to gender roles set by society.

Dato' Rohana shared her aspirations for the Malaysian youth to help improve the broadcasting industry in Malaysia with their creativity and originality and bring it to greater heights. Towards the end of the session, she answered various questions, ranging from the future of the Malaysian broadcasting industry, to the development of Astro and using television as a tool for educating young children and even what students should do to get the best out of university life! All in all, it was a very insightful session that ended with what seemed to be a photo-opt with our celebrity of the day - Dato' Rohana. It was a pleasure to have such a confident charismatic figure to inspire us all.
