1. Tan Sri Tony Fernandes

Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, probably Malaysia's 'coolest' corporate in the eyes of young Malaysians, had actually started his career in Virgin Atlantic. He is famously known as the patron of GenCorporate. In 2009, he infamously won a bet with fellow airline mogul Richard Branson which resulted in the latter working as a stewardess for AirAsia on a flight while donning high heels, a red dress and red lipstick.

2. Tan Sri Ananda Krishnan

Tan Sri Ananda Krishnan is - and has been for a very long time - Malaysia's second richest man. Educated back home in Malaysia at Victoria Institution, he started from his humble beginnings in gambling and a cartoon studio to setting up Astro and owning a G4 private jet!

3. Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary

Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary is a media shy billionaire who probably owns almost everything in Malaysia with interests in PosMalaysia, Proton, Tradewinds, MMC, BERNAS (meaning he has a stake in every single grain of rice) and many more. Oh, as well as the ongoing MRT project! He remains as Malaysia's richest Bumiputera and is active in philanthropy.

4. Tan Sri Robert Kuok

Tan Sri Robert Kuok is known as Malaysia's richest man and the 'Sugar King'. At 91 years old, he still manages to produce 80% of Malaysia's sugar and 10% of the world's! However, Tan Sri Robert's companies are mostly listed on the Singapore Exchange including Wilmar International, a palm oil giant.

5. Tan Sri Dato' Seri Vincent Tan

Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Vincent Tan is the man who brings in popular international franchises through Berjaya Corporation Bhd. He famously owns Cardiff City Football Club and infamously changed the club’s colours from blue to red much to the ire of the fans. However, he also recently cleared all of Cardiff City’s debt using his personal finances.

6. Tan Sri Dato' Seri Shahril Shamsuddin

In the grand scheme of things thatis the Malaysian oil & gas industry, Tan Sri Shahril is the executive head of the largest Malaysian oil & gas company that is Sapura Kencana Petroleum. An interesting fact, both his parents appeared in the Form 3 literature novel, Panas Salju as kind hearted individuals that assisted the main characters.

 

7. Dato' Rohana Binti Haji Rozhan

Dato’ Rohana Binti Haji Rozhan is widely known for her sharp personality.She is the woman behind Malaysia’s largest Pay TV service, Astro. She is an inspiration to many women as she trailblazes the industry in a male dominated corporate world.

8. Tan Sri Dato' Azman Hashim

Tan Sri Dato’ Azman Hashim a mainstay in Malaysia’s banking scene, he first worked in Bank Negara and moved around in the banking industry before purchasing Arab-Malaysian Development Bank. Tan Sri Azman’s daughter is Mizz Nina, a Malaysian pop artist made famous by her song ‘Take Over’ featuring Flo Rida.

9. Tan Sri Dato' Dr. Francis Yeoh

Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Francis Yeoh is currently spearheading Malaysia’s largest conglomerate. Tan Sri Francis was also awarded the Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 2006. Fun fact, he is the first to propose the idea of a high-speed rail linking Kuala Lumpur and Singapore to the government of Malaysia in 2003 which is currently in the process of being tendered. He has also appeared in the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alongside Steven Tyler, Baby Face and Yolanda Foster.

10. Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir

Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir has made a name for himself in Malaysia’s oil & gas industry. Besides that, he is also an avid race car enthusiast hosting the Malaysian Grand Prix in Sepang each year, a spectacle attracting celebrities around the world. He has a supercar collection including a McLaren P1 and Bugatti Veyron. His favourite drink is teh tarik!

11. Dato' Sri Nazir Razak

Dato’ Seri Nazir Razak is a self proclaimed semi retired banker who now divides his time between running one of Malaysia’s largest banks and his Chinese restaurant that he owns in Oxford. More importantly, this father of two is a member of multiple boards of GLCs including Khazanah Nasional. And he also owns a furniture company called Linley that has products on display at Harrods!

12. Tan Sri Dato’ Azman Mokhtar

Tan Sri Dato’ Azman Mokhtar is a Cambridge graduate and is currently the Managing Director of Khazanah Nasional after having been a Director at a slew of major companies such as Tenaga Nasional Berhad and Axiata Group Berhad. An interesting fact, he was involved with the World Economic Forum in 2011 in Davos. In popular culture, Tan Sri Azman is currently listed on English Wikipedia’s page entitled “List of Malays” and is also an avid Tottenham Hotspurs supporter .
